So, this is getting real, huh?

I went to go check how long until our wedding when I noticed that it's August 16th. That means in TWO MONTHS Rachel and I will be MARRIED! As we get closer and closer, we've started to move away from big-picture planning and into the details, which is actually quite fun! We went a couple weeks ago and picked out flowers. How did that go? Well, it ended with the florist asking "do you trust me?" So I think if we have one surprise coming our way it'll be with flowers. Good thing the answer to that question was "yes."

Wedding Update!

While this semester was probably the busiest semester I have ever had, we still managed to do a little wedding planning. We flew up to Albany for a wedding expo at Jiminy in April. It was horrible timing, as I had finals the following week, but we managed. First, my dress came in and fits almost perfectly! All I need is shoes and a veil to finish my attire.

Tuxes!

Despite the horrendous timing of our tux-selection appointment (the evening after Rachel's comprehensive exams), we did finally manage to get to the Men's Wearhouse in Johnson City (45 minutes late, but whatever) to select the tuxes for the wedding. All things considered, we had done much of our deciding out-of-store, but there were still some things we wanted to see with real eyeballs and real fabric.

We've been blogged!!

The week of Thanksgiving we were up in MA for the Mancini-Hughes wedding (which was beautiful in so many ways), wedding planning, and of course, Thanksgiving. On Monday we took our engagement pictures at Bement, the camp where Chris and I met. It was a shock to see all of the Do Not Enter signs and gates trying to keep the people who care about the place the most, out! It was an overcast day, but we made the most of it. We took pictures with the canoes, in front of the dining hall, and found our way into some cabins (Mark would have approved, we're sure).

Engagement Pictures & DJ - and new photos!

Hey y'all! I've been SUPER busy with work... which I guess is a good thing, right? I mean, at some point I guess we'll need to go on a honeymoon, right? And someone's gotta pay for it, yes? Anyway, there's some exciting stuff on the horizon. On Monday the 21st we're having our engagement photos taken at Bement! That's where we met, and it's of course very special to us. Not to mention it's future is quite uncertain (check out http://savebement.org), so we want to be able to say goodbye, document the state of affairs, and get to know our photographer.

Update!

We are very excited to be having Father Geoffry Piper officiate our wedding. He was Rachel's priest when she was little and was also a visit priest at Bement. We were nervous that the bishop would not allow us to get married outside and with a priest who is from a different diocese, but we got the go ahead and are all set on that end.

Photographer & Wedding Dress Excitement!

For those who do not know, we have two awesome dogs. One is a husky mix of some sort, Copper. The other is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Hunter. They are both on the medium/large size and pretty well-behaved (now that they are getting older); however, sometimes they revert back to old habits. Back in early September I sat down to write this blog post. I was just about down with the entire post, when Copper decided that laying on the floor beside me was not close enough and jumped on top of me and the computer.

Finding a photographer is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. We've been trying to meet with photographers lately... well, that's a lie... we've been trying to schedule appointments to meet with photographers when we come up there in August for Bethany's wedding (yay!).

Update!

In August we will be coming up to MA for Bethany and Sean's wedding (can't wait) and while we are up there we are going to be doing some serious wedding planning. I want to get the majority of wedding planning done before the next semester, so I don't have to worry about planning while writing a thesis and all that fun stuff. While we are up there we will be meeting with photographers, dress shopping, and checking out some samples from our florist. We also are meeting with our wedding planner at Jiminy to start figuring out logistics.

It's a date!

It's official! We penned in our wedding date today: October 16, 2010. It's going to be at Jiminy Peak, where we looked last Sunday. We looked at four other places after Jiminy--the Cranwell Resort, the Colonel Williams Inn, the Country Club of Pittsfield, and Berkshire Hills Country Club. Each had its merits, but none could top the uniqueness and amenities that Jiminy could offer. (Especially considering how rowdy we think our guests could be, Jiminy seems to be the most comfortable fit.)
